I still remember the first time I opened my channel and talked about casio solar watch that changed the way I look at affordable timepieces.

This analog solar watch, known as the MTP-S110 or by its full name MTP-S110-1AVCF, uses module 5272, and it moves easily between a dress watch and a casual watch, which makes this watch style rare for men who want one piece for every occasion.

My favorite watch for years has been the Seiko SKX007, also called the SKX 007 J1, a true legendary diver and the reason I fell in love with this hobby, and I still judge every diver’s watch against it, especially since both pieces are proudly made in Japan.

Casio Solar Watch

When I opened the casio box, I found the classic retail stand covered in plastic, plus a good stack of paperwork and a manual written in multiple languages, along with a bragging card that talked about tough solar power and water resistant 10 bar rating.

The watch itself is the model MTP-S110, and once I peeled off the plastic cover, I noticed a tiny plastic spacer left in place by the factory to keep the seconds hand from moving before sale.

This unit even had a one-year warranty casio solar watch  card tucked inside, and the whole presentation felt on par with any G-Shock 5610 box I have opened before.

The case itself shows a mix of satin finish and high polish sides, and that satin stainless steel case pairs nicely with the gradient black face, which shows a soft gradient metallic shimmer under bright light.

I love the black bezel, which stays a fixed bezel style casio solar watch  rather than rotating, though it still carries diver increments around the edge, and the mineral glass crystal sadly sits a bit too high.

Since the mineral glass protruding above the bezel is not fully protected, unlike a recessed hardlex crystal you might expect on a proper diver’s watch.

On the dial you can also spot a red second hand, a red minute hand, and a small red accent near the 12 o’clock position, plus numeric symbols for military time that give full 24-hour timekeeping.

Setting the time is simple thanks to the two click crown, which handles both day adjustment and date adjustment, with protected crown guards on each side to prevent knocks.

I checked the chapter ring alignment and it looked accurate right out of the box, and the hacking seconds hand feature let me line it up against my atomic G-Shock for a precise match.

This watch also has a solar power indicator and casio solar watch  overcharge protection, plus a six month battery power reserve, all part of the same solar panel system used across the tough solar line, alongside a low battery indicator so you always know your charge status.

Flipping it over, the screwed case back shows Casio stamped clearly, along with the serial number, confirming Japan movement and cased in China assembly, which is common for this price range.

With my calipers I measured 48 millimeters across the case, 51 millimeters lug to lug, a 22 millimeter lug width, and a case thickness 11.2 millimeters, all fair dimensions for a sub three ounce watch that comes in at exactly weight 2.96 ounces, or 84 grams on a kitchen scale.

The resin strap, sometimes called a resin watch band or resin band, ends with a polished buckle and a stainless steel buckle clasp, giving the whole piece a premium analog digital look for daily wear.

Placing it beside my Seiko SKX007J1, I could see a clear pillow case shape on the Seiko that this Casio does not copy, and the Seiko still wins with its embossed detail and the famous Seiko wave on the caseback, plus an upgraded Seiko silicone strap I added myself.

Still, this Casio holds its own, priced at an MSRP casio solar watch  135 dollars, and it wears well next to any G-Shock GW-6900 or a classic white sleeve shirt cuff, since it stays fully sleeve compatible for office days.

Comparing the two side by side gave me a fun loom test moment, and I used my Olight Warrior 2 Mini and an Olight 1700 lumen torch to charge each black strap dial before the lights went out.

In the dark, the Seiko’s lume pulled ahead, but this Casio still gave a decent glow for a day date watch at this price, and I am happy to add it to my everyday rotation next to my other pieces.

After wearing it daily, I can say the time adjustment process and the 100 meter water resistance make this a smart pickup for anyone chasing tough solar reliability without spending too much.

Looking back at the blue box packaging, the brush finish along the case sides, and the matte finish on the strap, I want to note the module 5272 stamped inside, the true mineral crystal on top, and the stainless steel case build overall, with high polish sides that catch the light beautifully.

This watch felt right for my six and seven eighths inch wrist, the crown protection guards worked well, and knowing it is solar powered gives me real peace of mind for daily use.

How to Set Date and Time (Module 5208)?

Setting the time on the Casio Tough Solar with module 5208 is easy once you know the steps, and it all starts in timekeeping mode before you press and hold the adjust button to see the ADJ indicator flashing on screen.

From there, use casio solar watch  the right side buttons to pick your current city, and I always choose New York City to match my own timezone, since that keeps my daylight saving time and summer time settings correct all year.

Next, press the mode button to move through each option, using the search button to switch between 12-hour display and 24-hour display, then to reset seconds to zero for a perfectly accurate start.

Continue with the mode button to set hour, set minutes, set year, and set month, followed by the same buttons to set date and choose the day of the week you want shown.

Finally, use the mode button again to pick your light duration, choosing between LT1 1.5 seconds or LT3 3 seconds, and then move to language selection for your display text.

Once everything looks right, press the adjust button one more time to exit setting, and your watch will keep perfect time from that moment on.
