This guide covers everything from the NXG 1800 to the Luminous solar system lineup, so you walk away with total clarity and zero confusion.

What makes Luminous stand out in a crowded market is the thoughtful engineering behind products like the Optimus series  built with fewer buttons, multiple features, and a clean FDD or front dashboard display that feels as intuitive as any advanced appliance you already own.

The interactive LCD panel brings easy operations into the picture, turning what used to be a complicated power backup management task into something any homeowner can handle confidently.

Whether you are managing daily operations or responding to unexpected power cuts, Luminous gives you a genuinely flexible, reliable, informative, and hassle-free experience from day one.

Understanding this basic principle helps you appreciate why Luminous solar systems perform so consistently well across both homes and offices in areas that face frequent power cuts every single day.

The relationship between the inverter, the battery, and your AC mains power supply is what makes the entire inverter battery ecosystem work seamlessly  and Luminous has spent years perfecting exactly that balance.

How an Inverter Works?

Every Luminous solar inverter functions as a smart electrical circuit with one core job it takes direct current stored in a battery and converts it into alternating current that your home appliances can actually use, at the precise voltage and frequency they require.

To fully appreciate this, it helps to think about two distinct situations that every household experiences: Situation 1 when you have uninterrupted power supply at home, and Situation 2 when a sudden power cut leaves you scrambling. Understanding both situations gives you a much clearer picture of why investing in a quality inverter genuinely transforms daily life.

In Situation 1, when your mains AC power from the electricity grid is flowing normally, the inverter passes that power directly to load your home appliances while simultaneously converts incoming AC power into DC power that travels through the battery wires to charge your battery until it is fully charged.

The system works quietly in the background, making sure your battery is always topped up and ready  something I have personally come to appreciate living in an area where grid reliability is unpredictable. This seamless charging process is one of the biggest reasons why a Luminous inverter paired with the right battery setup gives you such consistent performance day after day.

In Situation 2, when a power cut hits and you need to keep a household appliance running, your power inverter immediately steps in by drawing the stored DC power from the battery and converting it back into AC power that runs your connected appliances at home without interruption.

Only those appliances that are properly wired to work with the inverter will operate during this time  which is exactly why correct installation matters so much.

For both homes and offices dealing with frequent power cuts, a well-installed Luminous inverter is not just a convenience  it is a genuine necessity that changes how you experience daily life.

Things Required for Installation

Before you touch a single wire, gathering the right tools and components is the single most important preparation step you can take for a smooth installation experience. You will need a flathead screwdriver, wire cutter, plier, and a compass as your core hardware toolkit, simple items that most households already own and that make the entire electrical work significantly easier and safer.

Having everything laid out before you begin saves you from frustrating mid-installation interruptions that can disrupt the entire wiring sequence.

On the electrical components side, you will need 3 solar panels rated at 335 watts and 24 volts each, along with 2 batteries of 150AH lead-acid capacity connected in the right configuration for your system.

You will also need MC4 branch connectors in a 3-in-1-out configuration, a 40-ampere double-volt DC MCB, along with an MCB box, 10 meters of 10 square mm solar cable, and a battery jumper cable to complete all primary connectors and wiring runs.

Each of these components plays a specific role in the overall system, and skipping or substituting any of them can compromise both performance and safety. The star of the entire setup is, of course, the Luminous Solar Inverter NXG 1800 inverter itself, a unit I have seen installed in dozens of homes and that consistently delivers reliable output when paired with the right components.

Getting the full list of hardware together before day one of installation means you spend your time actually building the system rather than making repeated trips to the electrical supply shop. Trust me that the preparation step alone saves hours of frustration and keeps the entire installation moving forward cleanly from start to finish.

Step-by-Step Installation Process of Luminous Solar Inverter

The installation of a Luminous solar inverter becomes genuinely straightforward when you break it down into six steps and follow them one by one without skipping ahead. The first thing you need to figure out is how many solar panels your system requires and how much space those panels will occupy. For the NXG 1800 setup, you need approximately 100 square feet of clear, unobstructed rooftop or open area.

Most critically, your chosen area must be completely free from any shadow area throughout the year, because even partial shading can dramatically reduce the output of your entire solar panel array.

Use a compass to identify the perfect south-facing direction before you mount your solar structure, as this orientation maximizes the amount of sunlight your panels capture across every season.

The tilt angle of your structure needs to match your geographic location. If you are in Jammu and Kashmir, set it at 35 degrees; in Punjab, you can go with 30 degrees or 35 degrees; in Telangana, anywhere between 15 degrees and 20 degrees works well; and for locations like Gurgaon, a 30-degree angle is ideal.

Once your structure is correctly angled and erected, mount your solar panels firmly onto it and tighten everything with screws to complete Step 1 of your installation.

Step 2 moves into the electrical connections, where you locate the junction box on the backside of each panel. You will find two connectors there, with the male connector serving as the positive wire and the female connector as the negative wire.

For a parallel wire connection across all three panels, connect all positive wires to the MC4 3FM connector and all negative wires to the MC4 3MF connector, then mount your MCB box on the wall and install your 40-ampere double-volt DC MCB inside it, making sure the DC MCB remains switched off throughout the connection process.

Run your 10 square mm red wire from the positive terminal on the output side of the DC MCB and your black wire from the negative terminal, then connect both to the corresponding panel terminal inputs on your solar inverter to complete the DC MCB input wiring cleanly and safely.

For Step 3, connect your 2 batteries to the NXG 1800 inverter by first linking them in series using battery joiners. Attach one end of the battery joiner to the positive terminal of battery 1 and the other end to the negative terminal of battery 2 to create the series link.

Then connect the negative battery wire of the NXG 1800 inverter to the negative terminal of battery 1, and run the positive battery wire via the red wire from the positive terminal of battery 2 to complete the tubular battery connection.

Once connected, flip the battery selection switch to the correct position, and Step 3 is done, moving you one step closer to a fully operational Luminous solar inverter system.

Step 4 requires you to connect the output wire from your NXG solar inverter directly to your main AC socket or MCB box, establishing the link between your solar energy inverter model and your home’s existing electrical distribution.

Step 5 then has you connecting the AC socket output to your MCB box, completing the internal distribution side of the installation and making the system ready to deliver power to your connected appliances.

For the final step, Step 6, switch on your UPS first and then switch on the DC MCB of the solar panel circuit, and just like that your NXG solar system installation is fully complete and actively generating power.

You can always refer to the chart provided by Luminous to cross-check how many batteries and solar panels your chosen solar energy inverter model requires, along with the expected annual solar generation figures for each system configuration.

This chart is genuinely useful, especially for first-time buyers trying to decide between different inverter model options before making a purchase commitment. The entire installation process, from Step 1 to installation complete, is designed to be as accessible as possible, which is exactly why Luminous remains the trusted choice for homeowners across India.
